Simming it Up... Glimmer Style! is a fairly new forum which provides quality downloads free to everyone. We welcome all creators, non-creators, and anyone who just enjoys chatting about the game. You may ask yourself, "why should I join another forum?" Well, we will occasionally offer downloads that are exclusive to active members. So, we're hoping you will come, participate and enjoy all creations. This is where I will post all news and updates concerning Simming it Up... Glimmer Style! Feel free to comment, post suggestions and feedback here as well as the forum. I hope you will enjoy all that we share.

Closed Site Project

As us simmers know, Sims Sites come and go. Because of this, we sometimes, miss out on the stuff we forgot to grab or people new to the game don't get to experience the joys of this lost content. We have sites like The Sims 2 Graveyard to help us retrieve those files but, they're incomplete and need everyone's help to maintain a full, accurate directory. It's because of this, I've embarked on a ne...w project for the site. I have been downloading EVERYTHING there is from closed and open sites. We have a new section up for closed sites. You can help out by uploading what you have from these sites or by posting links to sites that host the files. All you'll have to do is start a thread here. (You must be registered to see this link) titled with the site your referencing.

I just want to apologize for my lack of activity on the forum. I have been lacking focus and patience recently and have not been feeling like myself. I am dealing with a personal issue right now all while trying to transition out of the Army and I am slowly trying to get back in the groove of things.

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to inform you that you no longer have to be registered to download the items. I noticed there were a great amount of registrations but, no one is posting. To avoid people who are only interested in obtaining content from crowding up the forum I've decided to open up the downloads to guests as well.

You only have to register if you truly want to be a part of the site and participate. Please do not register if you do not intend to post.

In other news, the newsletter is currently in effect. I will send it out between the first and fifth of every month. I have such a huge gap because I am the only one working on maintaining the site and uploading content (with the exception of one great member recently, Ivory) at the moment. Please be patient because it's a lot of work for one person but, I enjoy doing it all and it will get done... eventually. :p

I know it's been a while but, real life kind of got in the way and I was initially not going to reopen the board. After much consideration, I've decided to reopen. I was a little dismayed by the lack of participation in the forum.

As stated in my first post about closing the board, the point of a forum is to discuss. I started this forum because I needed a place where I didn't feel like an outsider. I needed a place where I could talk about the game, share creations and stimulating conversation with like-minded people without so many restrictions. I and the other administrators at the time did not want to be the only ones giving. We all worked hard putting this board together, trying to create a user friendly environment where creators of all types and levels would feel comfortable sharing their creations but, all of that work was in vain. No one shared so, this time, London, of Sim's Paraphernalia, and I have teamed up. We have a lot of great things in the works and are working closely to bring you the latest and greatest in downloads, information and discussions.

The board is still in tact under a new domain name, http://www.siugs.net. There are several changes to be implemented so, I will be working on the board while it's open so that you may come and share, download, discuss, etc. I would greatly appreciate your patience as we continue this process.

Hello everyone!

We have some great things in store for you this upcoming year. The first thing I'd like to announce is, London of Sim's Paraphernalia and I have teamed up once again. The old board is still up under a new domain but no downloads will be offered there. All downloads from Simming it Up... Glimmer Style! have been moved to Sim's Paraphernalia. You will have to register with the forum to download the items. You can look through the updates here to refresh your memories of what we had to offer. As stated, we have a lot of great things to come so join the site and become a part of a great, friendly Sim's community.

Hello,

I have been closed for several months. Initially I was waiting for a coder to translate a modification to the site. The coder never completed the work and by that time, I was experiencing real life issues and did not want to return to the game. I've decided the experience is worthwhile and have reopened the site under a new domain name, http://www.siugs.net/forum/forum.php. There is still some work that needs to be done before it is fully reopened but, I will be working on that as I can. As of now, I am the only administrator left so, please be patient. Thank you and I hope to see some people posting and having fun really soon!

Hi, I know I said the next time I'd post is when we're reopen but, we're more than half-way through February and I figure I should explain what's going on... I ran into some problems with the modification and the person working on it is still trying to sort things out. I have already put up the new style so when you visit, you can see that I am serious about coming back and using this time to work on the site. As I said in the last post, I am the only staff left and I am doing all I can to create a nice design and atmosphere where people will want to post and contribute. So, while I wait for the modification to be completed, I am working on new content and articles that I am hoping will gain interest. As always, I will make sure to keep everyone up to date with what's going on.

Hey everyone!

I just want to give you an update on what's going on with the site.

-I am currently working on customizing an installed style for the forum to give it a new look and feel.
-I've found someone to create a custom modification that will help contributing members to feel more appreciated and will allow other members to show their appreciation for their favorite contributors.
-I'm re-writing some of the rules and making sure all posts are in order.
-I am the only staff member left. I've sought advice on other forums and found I should only hire as needed. A new "hiring" process has also been established.
-SiUGS! School of Creativity (Never officially announced here) has been put on hold. Until we can gain further interest in the forum, I thought it would be best if we just put the school on hold.
-A New Home page is being worked on at the moment.
-And, last but not least, new downloads for you guys!

I'm hoping to reopen some time next week. I'll post again as soon as I reopen! :)

As of now, we're working on implementing some new features to make your experience more rewarding, enjoyable and we're also working on providing a great source for information for you guys. I've also been searching for help in implementing these rewarding features. I am working as fast as possible to reopen the board by the end of this month. I will post progress updates here and on facebook as they come. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience but, I'm hoping we can make it well worth the wait. :)

Board Closed for Renovation

Hi everyone! I just wanted you all to know that the board is closed. We are trying to reorganize some things in hopes of gaining interest in participating and contributing. I appreciate the people who are downloading the creations and the members we already have however, the whole point of a forum is to provoke discussion and form a community. That is not what is happening so, we know it is our responsibility to try something new to keep the members we have as well as gain new interest. I also believe in all of the attempts to get people to post, the original intentions and spirit of the forum were lost. We plan on coming back as soon as we can with a new design, attitude and to reinforce the supportive and creative aspect the forum was built on. With all of this going on, we are also trying to gain new staff in the process. We currently have 2 Administrators and 1 Moderator. As the SiUGS Turns is a collaborative soap opera story by the members of Simming it Up... Glimmer Style! Here you will meet the Tate Family. The Tate family is your average family from New Orleans, LA. Jackie and Mason have 3 children, all with promising futures until their oldest, Cameron Tate, finds himself in some never ending trouble...

Cameron is a no good, "much as" man, who stole his mother's mortgage money to go gambling. Everyone is worried sick about him and then Fox 5 News reports the unthinkable! Cameron is dead... or is he? Cameron resurfaces at his high school sweet heart's home to recuperate after a raid of his favorite hang out spot. So far, Dimora is the only one who has seen Cameron since the broadcast and everyone else, including yet another high school sweet heart, Vivian, thinks he's dead.

How did police make this terrible mistake? Who was the man thought to be Cameron? How will Ma Tate deal with the pain of thinking her only son is gone? Answer these questions yourself by contributing your piece of the story.

"As I was wondering what to do about enhancing the participation on my forum, I received a PM from Simmergirl asking if she could be a part of the "Goodie Crew". She submitted the application and I noticed she had some older finds listed. She stated she did not find a lot of new content around so, she thought it was appropriate to post old finds just in case someone didn't know where to look for certain items or, they may have missed them the first time around. I thought, what a wonderful idea!"

I went to MTS' Sims2wiki to see if I could add links and just build to that but, it turns out they're kind of "stank" about their wiki so, I made my own. It's called the Link Library. Its primary purpose is to provide links and information regarding content created for The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. With everyone's help, this will be a great "go to" source for everything Sims 2 and Sims 3 related. To add content, you would have to create an account but, if you'd rather not edit it, you can just post your additions here, or in the forum threads The Sims 2 Link Library and The Sims 3 Link Library. I hope you will enjoy and make use of this effort. :)

Facebook Connect

I figured out that facebook connect thing on the site so, you can now register through your facebook. It's a two click process and hopefully this is even better than the Introduction on registration... that didn't stop spammers but, it helped to see who the spammers were before they got too many crazy posts.
